Josh Weaver struck out 10 batters as the starter led Derby Twins past Performance Factory Phenoms 11-1 on Sunday at 200 S Woodlawn Blvd. Josh Weaver gave up four hits and one run over six innings while walking none.
Brit Vick collected three hits in four at bats in the win. Brit Vick hit a solo home run to right field in the fifth inning, singled in the seventh inning, and singled in the fourth inning.
Performance Factory Phenoms got on the board in the first inning after Kai’i Sylvester hit a solo home run to center field.
Derby Twins jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Derby Twins scored on a wild pitch, and Landon Blais grounded into a fielder’s choice, each scoring one run.
Derby Twins added six more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on three hits. Mason Wisnieski hit a grand slam to left field, Brit Vick hit a solo home run to right field, and Noah Allison hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Max White took the loss for Performance Factory Phenoms. The left-handed pitcher went four innings, surrendering two runs on two hits, striking out five and walking three. Ian Carlson tossed one inning of no-run ball for Derby Twins in relief. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking none.
Mason Wisnieski drove the middle of the lineup, leading Derby Twins with four runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Brit Vick and Gavin Mesa each collected three hits for Derby Twins. Javier Rodriguez paced Derby Twins with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying 10 walks for the game.
Kai’i Sylvester led Performance Factory Phenoms with one run batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Amarion Sailer went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Performance Factory Phenoms in hits.
Derby Twins play at double header home on Tuesday at Great Bend Bat Cats in their next games.
