Derby Twins took down Kingman Islanders 6-3 on Saturday at 200 N Woodlawn Blvd.
Kingman Islanders got on the board in the first inning after Jesus Yanez hit a solo home run to right field.
In the bottom of the second inning, Derby Twins went back into the lead after Spencer Simpson singled to right field, and Gavin Mesa singled, each scoring one run.
The game was suspended after three innings due to rain with Derby leading 2-1. It was restarted and finished on July 13.
Kingman Islanders scored two runs in the top of the eighth on a home run to left field by Karston Wall following a 6-pitch at-bat.
Josh Turner pitched four innings in relief for Derby Twins. The lefty gave up two hits and zero runs while, striking out four and walking three. Ian Carlson began the game for Derby Twins. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and one run over three innings, striking out seven and walking two. Lane Bledsoe opened the game for Kingman Islanders. The southpaw allowed two hits and two runs over three innings, striking out three and walking five.
Derby Twins accumulated 10 hits in the game. Mason Wisnieski, Josh Weaver, and Gavin Mesa each collected two hits for Derby Twins. Spencer Simpson, Dawson Robbins, Mason Wisnieski, Josh Weaver, and Gavin Mesa each drove in one run for Derby Twins. Derby Twins had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 10 walks for the game. Dawson Robbins and Josh Weaver led the team with two bases on balls each.
Karston Wall went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Karston Wall, Josiah Schmidt, Cresten Pore, Jack Scheiner, Connor Rowe, Jesus Yanez, and Ramon Corona each collected one hit for Kingman Islanders. Josiah Schmidt paced Kingman Islanders with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Kingman Islanders turned two double plays in the game.
