Derby Twins couldn’t keep up with Great Bend Bat Cats and fell 16-5 on Tuesday.
Great Bend Bat Cats were the first to get on the board in the second when Chase Chapman homered to left field, scoring two runs.
Derby Twins captured the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the second after Great Bend Bat Cats committed an error, Jude Almaraz singled to the right side of the infield, and Dawson Robbins grounded out, each scoring one run.
Great Bend Bat Cats flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring five runs on five hits to take the lead, 7-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a sacrifice fly by Jaxon Bunkers that drove in two.
Mekai Gallien stepped on the mound first for Derby Twins. The starting pitcher allowed seven hits and seven runs (four earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one. Mason Murphy started on the bump for Great Bend Bat Cats. The righty surrendered five hits and five runs (three earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out 10 and walking two.
Dawson Robbins, Jude Almaraz, and Brit Vick each drove in one run for Derby Twins. Landon Blais went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Derby Twins in hits.
Great Bend Bat Cats amassed 16 hits in the game. Chase Chapman led Great Bend Bat Cats with four runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The right fielder went 3-for-5 on the day. Kirby Orth went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Great Bend Bat Cats in hits. TJ Shaw Jr, George McCarroll, and Jaxon Bunkers each collected multiple hits for Great Bend Bat Cats. Chase Chapman and Kirby Orth each stole multiple bases for Great Bend Bat Cats. Great Bend Bat Cats ran wild on the base paths, collecting seven stolen bases for the game.
Derby Twins will travel to Great Bend Bat Cats for their next game on Tuesday.
