Tuesday’s game against Great Bend Bat Cats was a heartbreaker for Derby Twins, as they lost the lead late in a 3-2 defeat at 4714 17th Street Terr. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the sixth when Cesar Chavira drew a walk, scoring one run.

Both teams were strong on the hill. Great Bend Bat Cats pitchers struck out 12, while Derby Twins sat down six.

A solo home run to center field by Mason Wisnieski put Derby Twins on the board in the top of the second.

Great Bend Bat Cats jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Cesar Chavira singled down the left field line, and Derby Twins committed an error, each scoring one run.

Great Bend Bat Cats committed an error, which helped Derby Twins tie the game at two in the top of the fourth.

Landon Blais began the game for Derby Twins. The hurler allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking two. Zachary Alarid started the game for Great Bend Bat Cats. The pitcher allowed seven hits and two runs (one earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out 12 and walking none.

Mason Wisnieski led Derby Twins with one run batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Brit Vick led Derby Twins with two hits in three at bats.

TJ Shaw Jr, Cesar Chavira, Kirby Orth, and Jaxon Bunkers each collected one hit for Great Bend Bat Cats. Cesar Chavira went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. TJ Shaw Jr stole two bases.

Derby Twins welcome Great Bend Bat Cats on Wednesday for their next game.
