Derby Twins could not hold onto the lead against Hutchinson Monarchs on Tuesday at 200 N Woodlawn Blvd and fell 17-4 despite leading by four at one point.

Derby Twins got on the board in the first inning after an error scored one run.

Derby Twins scored three runs in the bottom of the second on a home run to center field by Jesse Saucedo.

Hutchinson Monarchs flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs on two hits to take the lead, 6-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a grand slam to left field by Jackson Schanuel that drove in four.

Hutchinson Monarchs scored five runs on three hits in the top of the sixth inning. Michael Barham drew a walk, scoring one run, Jackson Schanuel singled, scoring one run, Brice Wallar doubled, scoring two runs, and Carter Hepner grounded out, scoring one run.

Hutchinson Monarchs scored six runs on three hits in the top of the seventh inning. Jackson Schanuel homered to left field, scoring three runs, Wes Baker tripled, scoring one run, Brady Taylor drew a walk, scoring one run, and James Dagenhart singled, scoring one run.

Drew Dechant earned the win for Hutchinson Monarchs. The pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking four. Josh Turner took the loss for Derby Twins. The left-handed pitcher went one inning, giving up six runs (five earned) on three hits, striking out none and walking two. Josh Weaver led things off on the mound for Derby Twins. The right-handed pitcher gave up four hits and one run over four innings, striking out four and walking four. Cole Toureau started on the bump for Hutchinson Monarchs. The hurler surrendered three hits and four runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking two.

Jesse Saucedo led Derby Twins with three runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Derby Twins had patience at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game.

Hutchinson Monarchs accumulated 12 hits in the game. Jackson Schanuel and Brice Wallar were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected four hits for Hutchinson Monarchs while hitting back-to-back. Jackson Schanuel provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Hutchinson Monarchs with eight runs batted in. The infielder went 4-for-4 on the day. Wes Baker led Hutchinson Monarchs with four walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 10 walks for the game. Brice Wallar stole four bases. Hutchinson Monarchs ran wild on the base paths, accumulating five stolen bases for the game. Hutchinson Monarchs turned two double plays in the game.
