Even though Derby Twins collected eight hits to Dodge City A’s’s four, they still fell 7-4 on Sunday at Cavalier Field. Spencer Simpson and Landon Blais each collected two hits for Derby Twins.
Derby Twins were the first to get on the board in the first when Gavin Mesa singled, scoring one run.
Dodge City A’s flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on one hit to take the lead, 5-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Glenn Green III that drove in two.
Dodge City A’s added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Arturo Blankense singled down the left field line, and Landon Langley walked, each scoring one run.
Frank Tinoco earned the win for Dodge City A’s. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and one run over one inning, striking out one and walking none. Noah Allison pitched three and two-thirds innings in relief for Derby Twins. The pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs while, striking out six and walking none. Josh Turner took the loss for Derby Twins. The starting pitcher went one-third of an inning, giving up five runs on one hit, striking out one and walking five.
Gavin Mesa provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Derby Twins with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Derby Twins stole four bases in the game.
Arturo Blankense led Dodge City A’s with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Arturo Blankense, Landon Langley, Glenn Green III, and Alejandro Gomez each collected one hit for Dodge City A’s. Dodge City A’s had a strong eye at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. Yael Amador and Landon Langley led the team with two walks each. Alejandro Gomez stole two bases. Dodge City A’s ran wild on the base paths, accumulating five stolen bases for the game. Dodge City A’s turned two double plays in the game.
