Derby Twins defeated Haysville Aviators 5-0 on Sunday at 200 N Woodlawn Blvd as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. AJ Bekedam, Landon Blais, and Brock McKown each pitched for Derby Twins in the game. Brock McKown struck out Drew Fitzpatrick to get the last out.
Derby Twins got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning after Mason Wisnieski singled to center field, and Haysville Aviators committed an error, each scoring one run.
Landon Blais homered to right field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh for the Derby Twins.
AJ Bekedam earned the win for Derby Twins. The pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over two and one-third innings, striking out four and walking four. Dylan Dick took the loss for Haysville Aviators. The pitcher went two innings, surrendering three runs (two earned) on six hits, striking out three and walking none. Landon Blais started the game for Derby Twins. The left-handed pitcher gave up three hits and zero runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking three. Rhett Spiers stepped on the bump first for Haysville Aviators. The starter gave up zero hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking none. Brock McKown pitched two innings of zero-run ball for Derby Twins in relief. The pitcher gave up two hits, striking out three and walking one.
Derby Twins tallied nine hits in the game. Landon Blais led Derby Twins with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 2-for-4 on the day. Gavin Mesa led Derby Twins with three hits in four at bats. Mason Wisnieski collected two hits for Derby Twins in four at bats.
Logan Hicks led Haysville Aviators with two hits in five at bats from the leadoff position. Tyler Hand paced Haysville Aviators with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game.
