The Derby Twins opened their three game series with Dodge City by pounding out 16 runs on 15 hits for a 16-6 win Friday night at Panther Field in Derby.
7 of Derby's 16 runs came in the second inning, as they sent 11 batters to the plate, and scored 7 runs on 5 hits. Joe Faulk (2-4, 1 RBI) had the only extra base hit of the inning, while Lane Bourland (2-4, 2 RBI) drove home a pair in the inning with a 2 RBI single to left.
The Twins were held scoreless in just two frames on the night, while they added a pair of three run innings in the 5th and 7th on their way to the victory.
Noah Bland and Connor Basler led the way with three hits apiece, while Bland and Davis Elliott also stole three bases each.
Kyle Britt picked up his first win of the season while
Dodge City's Riley Ornito took the loss.
Derby picked up their 7th win of the season with the win, staying a game behind Liberal in the Jayhawk League standings.
