The Derby Twins scored 4 first inning runs and never looked back to defeat the Haysville Aviators 10-4 Sunday night at Vulcan Field in Haysville.
The Twins started the game with three straight singles by Michael Urquidi, Brooks Zimmerman, and Anthony Dominguez to load the bases and set up Tyler Myers' sacrifice fly to left scoring Urquidi from third. Jacob Means followed with a three run homer to left giving the Twins a 4-0, top of the first lead.
Zimmerman then lined a double to centerfield in the second inning scoring two more Derby runs. He later scored in the frame when he was driven home by Tyler Myers giving the Twins a 7-1 lead in the second.
The Twins pounded out 18 hits on the night, with 4 players leading the way with three hits each.
Jed Moscot (1-0) threw the first four innings for Derby to get the win, allowing 2 hits, 1 earned run, while walking 3 and striking out 3.
The Twins now have 5 wins on the season, which ties them for most in the Jayhawk League. They will have Monday off and open a three game series with El Dorado Tuesday night in El Dorado.
