Russell Crippen's two out 9th inning single up the middle with two strikes drove home the game tying and game winning runs lifting the Derby Twins to a 6-5 win over Great Bend Tuesday Night at Panther Field in Derby.
Jonathan Thibodeau led off the inning with a walk and Davis Elliott then was inserted as a pinch-runner.
After the next two Twins flied out, Noah Bland also came through with a two out, two strike single to right moving Elliott to second.
The two advanced to second and third on a passed ball with Crippen at the plate who later lined a full count pitch off Dawson Pomeroy into center bringing home the pair of runs.to earn the walk-off winner.
Crippen had 4 runs driven in on the night after lining a 2 rbi double to left center field in the 3rd inning giving the Twins a 3-1 lead at the time. However, the Batcats hit three homers on the night helping carry them into the bottom of the 9th with the one run, 5-4 lead.
Tyler Myers pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his second win of the season as the Twins battle Hays for second place in the Jayhawk League standings.
The Twins and Great Bend play game 2 of their three game series Wednesday night at Panther Field with the first pitch at 7.
