Davis Elliott delivered the game winning rbi with a 10th inning sacrifice fly to right scoring Russell Crippen lifting the Derby Twins to a 4-3 win over Dodge City Saturday night in Dodge City.
The run broke a 3-3 tie that stood for more than four innings after Dodge City scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the score at three.
All of Derby's first three runs were scored in the fifth. Greg Saenz two rbi single scored Lane Bourland and Connor Basler. Then Saenz scored two batters later when Anthony Dominguez grounded out to short giving the Twins a 3-1 lead before the A's answered with a two run fifth to tie the sore at 3.
Sam Sowerbrower tossed 6 innings and allowed 3 runs before Ryan McCutcheon and Matthew Dallas each pitched two scoreless innings in relief. Dallas faced 6 batters, retiring them all to get the win.
The Twins win assures them of no worse than a third place finish in the Jayhawk League standings, guaranteeing the Twins will not start NBC World Series play until the second week of the tournament that starts next week at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in Wichita.
The Twins look to make it a season series sweep of Dodge City when the series wraps up Sunday night at 7:00 in Dodge City.
