Gabe Constantine tossed 7 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out 8 helping the Derby Twins hold off Dodge City 3-2 Friday Night in Dodge City. After allowing a leadoff double to Josh Crosby, Constantine struck out the side in order in the bottom of the fifth inning, setting up the Twins first run of the game in the 6th when Connor Basler drew a bases loaded walk giving the Twins a 1-0 lead.
The teams each produced a two run 8th inning with Derby's coming on a Greg Saenz two rbi single to center scoring Jonathan Thibodeau and Noah Bland giving the Twins a 3-0 lead.
Dodge City's pair were charged to Matthew Dallas before Tyler Myers came on to retire one batter in the 8th and then all three he faced in the ninth to pick up his fourth save of the season.
Saenz had two hits in addition to his two runs batted in, while Jonathan Fernandez was the only other Twin with two hits on the night.
The Twins move to 25-12 on the season, a game and a half behind first place Hays, and a game behind second place Liberal.
