Kyle Britt allowed 5 hits while striking out 6 as the Derby Twins shut out El Dorado 5-0 Thursday night at Panther Field in Derby. Britt also only walked one batter in the game as the Broncos never had a runner advance past second base, and never had two on base at the same time.
The Twins got all the runs they needed in the bottom of the second inning on back to back RBI base hits by Noah Bland and Brett Fehr and jumped out to a 2-0 led after two. In the third inning the Twins added another when Jacob Means advanced three bases on two throwing errors in the same play. El Dorado pitcher Hunter Larson threw wildly to first in a pick-off attempt of Means that sent Means all the way to third base where Bronco first baseman Kolton Schenker then threw wildly into left field, allowing Means to come home for a 3-0 Twin lead.
The Twins added two more in the fourth inning to pad their lead and let Britt and the defense handle the rest as the Twins turned three double plays behind Britt.
The Twins next open up a crucial four game series at home against Hays Friday night at Panther Field with the first pitch at 7 o'clock with both teams in a three way battle with Dodge City for second place.
